Lyon, nestled between the Rhône and Saône rivers in eastern France, is celebrated as the country’s gastronomic capital and a true pilgrimage site for food and wine lovers. With over 2,000 years of history, this UNESCO World Heritage city blends rich culinary tradition with stunning architecture—from Roman ruins to Renaissance streets and its famous hidden passageways, the traboules.

What truly defines Lyon, however, is its extraordinary food culture. The city is home to traditional bouchons serving hearty Lyonnaise dishes, bustling markets filled with artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and seasonal produce, and a deep-rooted connection to some of France’s most prestigious wine regions. Its proximity to the Northern Rhône Valley makes it the perfect gateway for exploring world-class vineyards, where elegant Syrah and aromatic Viognier wines are crafted on dramatic terraced slopes.

This is a peak time of year for food and wine and the weather will still be nice.
