Covent Garden: From Ballet to Ballroom: A Journey Through London’s Dance History

In London’s Covent Garden we explore sites associated with the history of dance. Learn how British ballet evolved thanks to two remarkable women – one from Poland and the other from Ireland. View the venues where Diaghilev’s famous Ballets Russes revolutionised the dance world.  See the theatres where great dancers such as Anna Pavlova, Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn performed. The walk features London’s oldest dance wear shop established in 1929, the Royal Ballet school, dance studios, rehearsal venues and the place where the predecessor of popular tv dance show “Strictly Come Dancing ” (known as “Dancing with the Stars" in America) began back in 1950. Finish at the headquarters of London’s oldest ballet company on the South Bank of the Thames.
